The “Red Caucasus” was laid down on October 19, 1913 in Nikolaev at the Russood Shipyard, and was launched on May 28 (unsuccessfully) and again on June 8 (final) in 1916.
Due to the War and Revolution, completion was delayed until 1932. Her design was heavily modified by the Soviets, entering service on January 25, becoming part of the Black Sea naval forces…
On January 11, 1935, she joined the Black Sea Fleet. From October 17 to November 7, 1933, she visited Istanbul, Piraeus and Naples.

During the Great Patriotic War, she supported Soviet troops during the Siege of Odessa, Siege of Sevastopol, and the Kerch-Feodosiya Operation in the winter of 1941—42. On 3 April 1942 the ship was awarded the Guards title.
She was reclassified as a training ship in May 1947 before being expended as a target in 1952….
